About Cándido

A fresh story that
goes back more than 50 years

 

It all started in 1967 when our founder, Cándido Muñoz, started selling fruit and veg in Madrid from the burgeoning Segovian orchards he knew so well. That knowledge, and his close links with the land, enabled him to grow his business gradually, walking hand in hand with quality, creating the first facilities for packaging fresh products, mainly carrots.

1975

Segovia and Andalusia

In order to be able to provide vegetables all year round, in 1975 the Hnos. Muñoz Pascual company became involved in Andalusian harvests, building relations with the best cultivated land and farmers in the province of Cadiz.

These days, that knowledge and rural connection have enabled us to boast a high percentage of our own planted crops and harvests, as well as close relations going back many years with the farmers of Cadiz and Segovia.

The 1980s

Growth and Facilities

Meanwhile, in the 1980s we embarked on the development of facilities to store, clean and package leeks and carrots in Carbonero el Mayor. Said facilities have undergone continual expansion and modernisation since the 1990s and 2000s, with the aim of guaranteeing the cleanliness and preparation of our vegetables in a quick and ongoing manner, introducing the best technology for washing, sifting, refrigerating and packaging, with all processes automated

2000

We start to export

By the early 21st century, distribution was already being carried out in the main domestic markets, both in Madrid and Barcelona as well as in the main Spanish provincial capitals.

It was then that we took the giant step of expanding our distribution to the EU markets of countries such as Portugal, England, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Germany, Holland, Belgium…

Current day

Responsibility and the Environment

Our sensibility and close ties to the land have enabled us to become pioneers in our respect for the environment. We apply it right from the outset, in our agricultural sowing and harvesting practices, producing 10 months of the year in proximity, and also with the introduction of water recycling and purification systems, the use of solar panels to improve energy efficiency, and making use of waste materials.
