Quality Care

Our rural background and knowledge of the countryside have meant we have grown to believe fervently that, just as important as the quality of origin and preparation of our vegetables, is the control of each and every stage of the process, from field to shopping basket.

Calidad con C de Cándido

Our rural background and knowledge of the countryside have meant we have grown to believe fervently that, just as important as the quality of origin and preparation of our vegetables, is the control of each and every stage of the process, from field to shopping basket.

First things first:
our crop fields

Both our agricultural company (HORTASEMU) and the farmers who work with us are outstanding in the way they carry out extensive crop rotations, whereby irrigation is only necessary on average once every four years on a given plot, with cereal crops or leaving the plot fallow rotated with the growing of carrots.

The use of a mobile sprinkler system (which is assembled and disassembled every year) makes these rotations easier, and we are convinced they are key to the agricultural success of the area.

Methodology

GLOBAL G.A.P. Certification

All of this is undertaken by adopting G.A.P Global Quality Control methodology, an international certification designed so that consumers can be sure about how production has been carried out. This certification covers best practices in both the preparation and management of the land, from sowing or planting, as well as all subsequent activities, up until the point at which our crops are harvested, reducing the impact on the environment.

Certifications and Programmes
Food Safety

Beyond our commitment to sowing and producing, at Cándido we have also gradually introduced  a system with advanced control techniques and traceability at each stage, to guarantee food safety right across the production chain, including:

  • Multi-residue analyses of all the farming plots
  • System of labelled traceability
  • Daily monitoring of temperature and humidity at each stage of the process, as well as the health and hygiene qualities of the water used for washing
  • Control of the prepared vegetable through microbiological analyses and monitoring for heavy metals, chlorates, etc.

To that end, we have signed up and adhere to the guides, guidelines, certifications and improvements introduced through the following projects and programmes:

Global G.A.P Certification
