with a C for Cándido

The fields where we grow carrots range from small to medium-sized. This allows us to keep a close eye on the conditions and agricultural processes in each location at all times, with small-scale local farmers who know and care for their plots, in line with traditional practices going back centuries in Castille and Leon, which is where we are from. In fact, 80% of our carrots come from these Castilian lands.

From Segovia
to Valladolid

Campos Segovia con Mapa

Our origins are linked to the lands of the north of Segovia. Lands with light, loose soil, and the ideal pH for growing carrots. Furthermore, the mild climate during the day and chilly night-time temperatures are ideal for this plant, which is why the area is considered one of the best in Spain for growing carrots.

The Andalusian lands in which we also grow are vegetables enable us to complement our production during the winter, so we can offer crops in the spring, from March until June. For the past 40 years, the mild winter climate of the south of Andalusia has allowed us to ensure quality, with our small-scale Andalusian farmers, and organise continued production in a modern and efficient manner, regardless of the time of year.

Zanahorias - Puerros - Cándido

The Process

Respect, control and innovation

The principle of respecting the countryside and the environment is key to understanding our focus. This respect includes both agricultural practices and crop rotation and resting plots, especially taking into account that the carrot is demanding when it comes to soil fertility: the farmers who work with us are outstanding in the way they carry out extensive crop rotations, with cereals or leaving plots fallow.

That enables us to safeguard quality at origin, for both our carrots and leeks, as we can guarantee control from sowing to harvesting.

None of that takes away from our commitment to innovation, which is reflected on the land by our introduction of systems of agrotechnology to optimize resources or, for instance, in the implementation of anti-frost systems, as well as the exhaustive certification of practices under Global G.A.P. regulations.
