Responsibility and the Environment

We are committed to agriculture and farming that respect the environment, so we are a certified company in best agricultural practices that specifically include the aforementioned respect for the environment (see more on Global G.A.P)

The transportation of raw materials to our facilities is highly efficient, given that for 10 months of the year we produce carrots in the towns and villages of the Province of Segovia, as well as in two bordering municipalities which, oddly enough, were once part of the province.

We have also invested in energy savings, optimising electricity consumption through the digitalisation of all our processes, as well as our own production of electricity with the installation, in 2020, of 350kw of solar panels on our roofs (with plans to increase this to generate a total of 1 Megawatt. As such, in the summer months we will be able to produce 50% of the energy we need.

At our Hortalizas Cándido facilities in Carbonero El Mayor, we are extremely sparing in our use of water. To this end, we have installed an extremely comprehensive system that allows us to reuse water for the varying stages and processes involved in washing the vegetables, with purification also being the last stage before its final discharge.

Any products not fit for the fresh vegetables markets may in principle be used for the frozen goods, tinned preserves or juice industries. Finally, those products not considered suitable for the abovementioned industries may be used as food for the local ovine livestock.
